OK, thanks for this information.

But this didn't solve my problem:

root@edugawa:/usr/src/mint>cvs login
Logging in to :pserver:anoncvs@sparemint.atariforge.net:2401/mint
CVS password: (typing "anoncvs"  invisibly)
cvs [login aborted]: connect to sparemint.atariforge.net(81.3.43.252):2401 failed: Connection refused
root@edugawa:/usr/src/mint>
