Make that a second complaint about xaaes. It works fine, mostly, but will not load either xcontrol or zcontrol, or any other .acc files if I start xaaes and then Thing. But, if I first run and quit toswin2, from xaaes. Thing will automatically load all other .acc files, but not a control panel, then or later. This does not seem to be a Thing bug, because it loads all .acc files when run from single TOS and MiNT (1.15.12), by renaming the mint.cfg file and rebooting. What I have is what EasyMiNT put there. I have not worked on xaaes's configuration files, and am not sure yet it is necessary. How does one print from MiNT? Of course, I cannot select printers without a control panel, but I tried and got strange results. EasyMiNT, on my TT030, with HHdriver, Thing, and naaes, does not set up pppd files. So I was trying to print out man pppd. Using Bash, from Toswin2, I gunzipped pppd(8) and typed groff man pppd >prn. Nothing happened. I typed groff man pppd >clipboard, and thought nothing happened. There was only what seemed to be a partial line of text from pppd in the clipboard directory. Then, two days later, I found a file with a name I did not give it in XAAES/AUTOGEM, and to my surprise, it was a groffed man pppd, ready for printing, from single TOS, to my SLM printer. I can drag and drop a file on prn, so I know that driver works. What, if anything, did I do wrong? I have EasyMiNT set up to boot to a very useable bash shell, except for the fact that logging on as root, I cannot get at drive U, or various things in the directory /etc/ on the physical MiNT drive. That is probably a feature of MiNT, and I can get around it by loading xaaes and then Thing, but would rather not.
