I have a similar problem with the Omni.Net on an Intel PC. I
solved it by adding

stty -F /dev/modem speed 115200

in the script just before the call to wvdial. Somehow wvdial fails
to set the correct line speed.

Of course, you'll have to adjust /dev/modem and 115200 to your
needs.
