FYI, I have just installed 0.9.7beta from Ubuntu. The symlink is still
there so 0.9.8beta must be OK, too.

There is a number of differences between Cygwin and Linux.

I'll need to test it on Cygwin (unless Alan reports that he has symlink
trouble on linux).
