  Vincent,

Did you ever come to any conclusions with regards to the bugs in the 
mudflap version of make?  The behavior I have found with this is that it 
will run without exhibiting hte malloc bug but it seems to leak memory 
until the point of running out on a long build like xfree.  It's 
interesting that the leak seems to avoid triggering the bug.
