This is because of restrictions in the ISO 9660 standard :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_9660#File_and_directory_name_restrictions

You would need ISO 9660:1999 standard, or "Rock Ridge" or "Joliet" extension to the original ISO 9660 standard in order to get more than one dot in a file name.
